WIOA
WIOA
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) is a U.S. federal law that was signed into effect on July 22, 2014. WIOA was designed to help job seekers and workers access employment, education, training, and support services and to match employers with the skilled workers they need. Teaching ESL, and Citizenship as well as EL Civic is a part of that too.
WIOA has five different titles. Title II (two) addresses adult education and literacy activities. The aim is to assist adults in becoming literate and obtaining the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and self-sufficiency.
It supports programs and initiatives that help adults improve their reading, writing, mathematics, and English language proficiency.
